Myotonic Goat Registry (MGR) Registration Certificate and Transfer Memo will be given to the new buyer. The buyer will be responsible for transferring the registration into their name. An application for joining and other information about the MGR will be provided.
If the buyer prefers to register with the International Fainting Goat Association (IFGA), the Registration Application will be completed and signed as required by seller. It will be the buyer's responsibility to register the goat with the IFGA. Buyer will still be given the MGR Registration Certificate and Transfer Memo.
The buyer will receive documentation of health records, date of birth, etc., as well as photos of the kids. We will also provide a sample of feed and hay so that there is no abrupt change in the goat's diet and general information regarding goat care that includes information on worming, shots, hoof trimming and coccidia treatment.
Any other health tests and/or health certificate can be done by our veterinarian at the buyer's expense.
Health Papers:
Each state has its own requirements as far as what tests are needed to bring animals into the state. The fines are high if you are stopped and do not have health papers on your stock. You can check with your vet as to what is needed, or visit http://www.aphis.usda.gov/vs/sregs/ to see what tests are required to enter your state. All health certificates and tests are the responsibility of the buyer. Usually there is a vet farm visit charge in addition to the charges for the actual testing.
Goat Carriers:
Buyers are expected to make our goats comfortable and safe during their ride to new homes. We ask that you use a crate large enough for the size goat being transported or a stock trailer/truck with a cap so the animal can ride comfortably. If the carrier is to be outside in a truck bed, make sure the goat will have protection from wind, rain, sun, cold temperatures, etc. Carriers should have several layers of newspaper covered by a layer of straw to help soak up urine while en route. Under no circumstances will a goat leave our farm tied in the back of an open bed truck. We reserve the right to refuse to sell or allow transportation of our goats with those that we feel are not responsible for the safety of our animals.
Transportation:
Occasionally we may make deliveries of purchased goats. This is the exception rather than the rule, however. Trying to schedule a trip when you own a lot of goats that need to be cared for in your absence is difficult. Depending on size, goats are either transported in travel crates in the back of our truck or transported in a small horse trailer. They have access to water and hay while traveling. All goats transported over the
We charge $1.50 per mile one-way for the first goat transported. If there is more than one goat being purchased, there is a charge of $25.00 for each additional one. We reserve the right to change our pricing for delivering (based on rising fuel costs) prior to any deposit being paid.
